Main Attrakionz f/ Danny Brown - “Cloud Skatin” (Green Ova, 2011)

This has been out for a few weeks but I’m only posting it now because I move slower than the internet. Julian Wass’ beat sounds like Aphex Twin and (though I hate to admit it) Danny more or less murderers MA on their own shit. He’s really comfortable on this type of beat and hopefully now that the lines of communication are open he’ll be able to grab some more beats from the Green Ova camp in the future. They’re really running with this “Cloud Rap” thing and that’s disconcerting. Shit can sometimes go sour quickly when rappers start taking such blatant cues from their audience, especially if their audience is full of internet nerds like myself. So if you guys are listening: please stop listening.

(Also this seems like a missed opportunity to go all in and call it “Cloud Surfin” ala “Swag Surfin’.” Skating seems too labor intensive to do on a cloud.)
